The Alma Saxophone Quartet was born in 2019 at the behest of four fellow students who share a passion for chamber music and the desire to create innovative projects in the name of variety and experimentation. To this end, the Alma Saxophone Quartet wants to explore the most heterogeneous repertoires, passing with ease from transcriptions of the classical repertoire, to jazz, up to the most recent original pieces for this formation. The Quartet carries out an intense musical activity playing in important concert seasons such as: Associazione Filarmonica Umbra, “Civita Festival”, LagoMaggioreMusica 2022, Ceresio estate (Switzerland), Amici della musica di Foligno, Chamber Orchestral Association “B. Marcello” of Teramo, “Ameria Umbra” Association, “P. Anfossi” in Genoa and since 2022 he has been collaborating with the Gioventù Musicale d’Italia foundation.

The artists are: Simone Bellagamba – Soprano Saxophone, Andrea Piccione – Alto Saxophone, Davide Lucente – Tenor Saxophone and Andrea Leonardi – Baritone Saxophone. Alma likes to be in America is the recording project released in 2021 and presented to the public for the first time in the prestigious season of the Umbrian Philharmonic at the Secci theater in Terni.

It represents a journey into American music of the last century, ranging from the orchestral repertoire of George Gershwin and Leonard Bernstein to the revolutionary and provocative rock of Frank Zappa, crossing the compositional inspiration of Chick Corea and Glenn Miller. A rich and varied programme, suitable for all audiences.
