From Piazza Dante square follow the itinerary described in “Purple Route 4” as far as the old village centre of Oltrefiume; then proceed along the streets Via Unione, Via G. Lavarini and Strada Cavalli. Cross the Milan-Domodossola railway line, follow briefly downhill to the Sempione main road which you then follow for a short distance as far as the charming village of Feriolo. Turn left before the roundabout, follow the road for a short distance then take the footpath uphill towards the tower, along an attractive, easy mule-track through the woods.
The romantic, picturesque village of Feriolo is well worth a visit with its houses overlooking the lake, the lovely lakeside promenade passing the sandy beach, the little bay called Böcc with its emerald green waters, St. Charles’ Church and the pretty bars and restaurants offering delightful opportunities to stop off.
