From the lakeside, take the street Via Monte Grappa that goes uphill to link into Via Due Riviere. The first section of the route ascends on an asphalt road flanked by the parks of elegant villas that have transformed the ancient rural area into a desirable holiday resort.
On entering the hamlet of Romanico, a sculpture of a female bust can be seen walled into the façade of a house, while the old village centre, which has been redeveloped, invites the visitor to pause on one of the benches or near the carved granite fountain. Worthy of a visit is the Oratory of St. Giuseppe and, at short distance below the road for Roncaro, the ancient Rione Milnese (Milanese quarter) with its beautiful frescoed chapel.
Proceeding along Via Panoramica, with its surprising and extraordinary views of the lake, you reach Roncaro with the Oratory of the Blessed Virgin of the Addolorata. From here, your return is either back the same way or following the panoramic route of an attractive mule-track which , in the olden days, was used by the fishermen of Roncaro who moored their boats on the Lido beach facing Isola Pescatori (the Fishermen’s Island). Then, turn left to take the lakeside promenade back to the starting point.
