A landscape of rare beauty, protected by the Piedmont Region and Lake Maggiore Park Authority, which extends for 365 hectares around the Toce river banks.
The luxuriant vegetation of reeds and willows is a natural habitat of great ornithological interest (mallards, grebes), also for migratory birds (wood sandpiper) which finds refuge here before crossing the Alps, and for the wintering of some species (common goldeneye, coot, water pipit). In a close relationship with nature you can practice bird watching and naturalistic hiking. The itinerary leading to the reserve winds towards the characteristic village of Feriolo. The cycle-pedestrian path begins near the exit of the M26 junction, on the lake side, and runs parallel to the SS. 33 to Feriolo. Once in the picturesque village, follow the lakefront and through via Mazzini you enter again the cycle-pedestrian path which runs parallel to via 42 Martiri until you reach the entrance of “Isolino” campsite in Verbania-Fondotoce. Here is the access to the wide paths along the Toce river. Fondotoce Nature reserve is the perfect place for families to enjoy nature.
